About

La Bohème Curaçao is the smoothie bar and cafe-restaurant of Punda, at Columbusstraat 4 in the old town of Willemstad, a 10 minute walk from the cruise piers. It is run by a Chilean family who came to the island in 1999 and opened La Bohème in 2015; the same family later opened Mistral, Olas & Copas and Santa Anna. It holds a 4.6 rating on TripAdvisor from more than 850 reviews with a Travelers' Choice award, and about 4.5 on Google from more than 1,600 reviews (September 2026). The New York Times named it in its 36 Hours in Curaçao guide in 2020 for its smoothies and arepas.

The smoothies are the signature: fresh fruit blends such as Pineapple Express, Mangomania and Coconut Dream, and green smoothies like The Hulk, built on broccoli, spinach, celery, mango, pineapple and banana. The food runs from breakfast to dinner: omelettes, avocado smash on sourdough, pancakes and breakfast burritos in the morning; arepas on gluten-free corn flour with fillings from chicken curry to vegan; Chilean family recipes such as ceviche with leche de tigre and patacones, lomo saltado and sandwiches on marraqueta bread; plus wraps, pastas, salads and a kids menu. Cocktails include a mango mojito and a pisco sour, and the coffee list runs to cold brew and an iced Bumblebee of fresh orange juice and espresso.

Tables spill into a colourful pedestrian alley, one of the most photographed corners of Punda. La Bohème opens Monday to Saturday from 8:00 to 22:00 and is closed on Sunday. On Thursday evenings the Punda Vibes street event fills the alley with live music and dancing, and a reservation is needed that night. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are marked throughout the menu; the arepas are made with gluten-free corn flour but share a fryer, which matters for coeliac guests. Prices on this page are in Caribbean guilders.
